Airbus Wins Debut Order for Corporate Jet Version of A320neo

Airbus Group NV sold the first corporate version of its re-engined A320neo single-aisle jet series with an order from Farnborough, England-based Acropolis Aviation. Acropolis has specified a 19-seat layout for the ACJ320neo, which will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018 and join a fleet that includes a business variant of the smaller A319 with existing engines, Airbus said Tuesday.

Airbus has old more than 170 corporate jets to date, pitching the A320 family -- which spans the A318 through to the A321 stretch, all of them bigger than specialist business aircraft -- as the best solution for companies, governments or individuals needing to transport larger groups.

While the business planes sold by Toulouse, France-based Airbus represent a fraction of those that enter commercial passenger service each year, margins are higher on private jets, which can feature meeting rooms, VIP suites and showers.

Airbus is performing tests on the commercial variant of the A320neo, which has become the fastest-selling airliner in civil aviation history as customers seek to benefit from lower fuel burn.
