Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen airport predict rise in visitors and exhibitors during Air Expo due to cheaper

The three-day Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2016 will welcome 20,000 visitors when it opens for its fourth edition, officials have said. The exhibition, a part of the Abu Dhabi Aviation and Aerospace Week, will take place in the capital from March 8-10 at Al Bateen Executive Airport, and is expected to see growth of 20 to 25 per cent from the show in 2014.

With Dhs5 billion in sales during Abu Dhabi Air Expo 2014, 35 per cent higher than 2013, officials believe the scale of this year’s edition will be far higher. “We in Abu Dhabi have established ourselves in the international arena and the increase in figures shows how Abu Dhabi is becoming a growing hub for aviation in the region,” said Mohammed Al Katheeri, chairman of the organising committee of Abu Dhabi Air Expo and general manager, General Aviation Airports.

In addition to the main exhibition area, the expo will feature the latest aircraft ranging from ultralights to business jets and helicopters. The expo will see two new elements: Abu Dhabi Heli Expo and the Middle East Aviation Career Exhibition, which will focus on the latest trends, training and recruitment in aviation. The idea of the career exhibition is to encourage more young people to pursue a career in aviation, said Al Katheeri. “This exhibition will make people aware not only of job opportunities but the different career paths one can take in aviation, while also getting experienced people from the industry to guide them.” Almost 300 exhibitors are expected to register by the end of January, with 50 per cent of them from the UAE and the region.
